Sexuality-related Movies of 1990s |
Three
of Hearts (US 1993)
Directed by Yurek Bogayevicz
Featuring Kelly Lynch, Sherilyn Fenn
|
story: |
Connie is a lesbian and works as a
nurse in NY. After her female lover, Ellen, leaves her, she
hires a male escort to seduce the lover and then break her heart
so she will return. However, he begins to fall in love with
Ellen. A story of a unique triangular relationship.
|
point: |
"Doesn't she want to try falling
love with men too?" The phrase by Joe about bisexual Ellen
would be freaky. Connie cries over Ellen, and that is heart
aching. The friendship beyond sex and sexuality between Connie
and Joe is heartwarming. There is another ending in the home
video and you can compare the two

Natural
Woman (Japan 1994)
Directed by Hirohisa Sasaki
Featuring Kaori Shimamura, Tamaki Ogawa, Hiroko Nakajima
|
story: |
Yoko is writing illustration for
minor magazine, and Yuriko is setting out to be a boxer. 5 year
ago, Yoko was a university student and in love with Hanayo.
Crisscrossing the present and the past, relationship of love
and hate between Yoko and Hanayo, or Yuriko is depicted. The
original author, Rieko Matsuura also supported writing the plot.
|
point: |
Yoko and Hanayo were lovers but rivals
at the same time. Their strong love ended in hurting each other.
The contrast between the past depictured in a inorganic interior
and the present depictured lively in sunlight is very impressive.
The original novel refers more strongly the love and hate between
Yoko and Hanayo.
